Dozens of Indian Lake Elementary School students are sporting new red T-shirts after the Laker Zone Awards for the second nine weeks. This long-time program at ILES has been successful in helping students maintain good behavior at school. Every nine weeks each teacher selects a Laker Zone winner from his or her class. Good behavior in specials classes and on the bus is also rewarded.

For this assembly, a few students were selected for a demonstration to remind students what it means to be “in the zone.” Students chose three scenarios from a pack of cards and had to decide which Laker Zone triangle the scenario belonged under- Learning, Staying Safe or being Helpful.

Here are the Laker Zone winners from this quarter:

Kindergarten-Heidi Wolf, Cale Buchenroth, Anara Shroyer, Gabe Steinman, Landen True, Grant Wickline and Cruz Parker.

First Grade-Aiden Smith, Alivia Wallace, Summer Champ, Jaxon Snipes, Alyssa Gammon, Alexis Wauben and Fancy Parker.

Second Grade-Emma Wagler, Avrianna Arthur, Dakota Brown, Riley Ross, Kora Fulkerson, Dakota Peckam, Dakota Gambrel and Tyson Ramirez.

Third Grade- Jayden Martin, Cameron Freyhof, Drew Stroud, Grace Strong, Drake Cosby, Frank Davis and Ricky Burden.

Fourth Grade- Taylor Karbowiak, Abby Sanabria, Isaac Meyers, Thomas Elliott, Gabby McClure, Kaylee Overbey and Annie Braig.

Bus- Macie Flescher, Dylan Valerio, Ava Huffman, Peyton True and Hailey Blackburn.

Nearly 190 students were also in the drawing to win bicycles for achieving perfect attendance in the second nine weeks. Fourth grader Eli Hughes and third grader Breannah Sawmiller were the lucky winners.

In my life I can do anything that…

Helps myself and others learn,
