The balance that the Indian Lake football team showed while rumbling through the Central Buckeye Conference Mad River Division on its way toward a perfect 5-0 record and an undisputed MRD title was reflected in the all-conference roster that was released Nov. 11. As befitting a team that went undefeated in the division, Indian Lake put a total of eight players on the first-team roster, four from the offense and three from the defense, including the Players of the Year on both sides of the ball.
Laker junior Alex Jacobs was honored as the Offensive Player of the Year, while teammate senior Joey Davidson received the plaque as the Defensive Player of the year for the MRD. This marks the second year straight year that Davidson has been awarded the Defensive Player of the Year hardware. In addition to leading the Lakers to a MRD title, Jacobs and Davidson were instrumental in earning Indian Lake an invitation to the OHSAA football tournament for the first time in the school’s history.
Joining Jacobs on the first-team offense were backfield mate Cole Merritt and lineman Connor Even, both seniors. The Lakers also put two receivers on the squad, sophomore standout Collin Coburn and junior Tyler Reprogle.
Steven Major, a senior, made the first team as a defensive lineman and Junior Brandon Henderson joined Davidson as an all-conference linebacker.
Earning Special Mentions for the Lakers were seniors Trenton Butterfield and Connor Davis and junior Andrew Hulbert.
Indian Lake senior Kurt Crockett received the MRD Sportsmanship Award.
