LEWISTOWN – Kenton had seven players score field goals in the first period before exploding to a 86-27 over Indian Lake in non-league girls basketball action Dec. 28.
The Wildcats did not take a free throw in the first period, yet used seven players to sink one basket apiece in the quarter to take a 14-9 lead into the second. Kenton then pulled out the stops, dropping 72 points on the hosts over the final three periods for the 59-point win.
The Lakers fall to 1-11 on the season with the loss.
After scoring 24 points in the second to take a 38-14 lead at the half, the Wildcats dropped 25 on the hosts in the third and another 23 in the fourth. All 10 Kenton players recorded at least one basket in the game, Ashley Morris leading all scorers with 16. Ellie Miller scored all 13 of her points for the Wildcats in the third quarter. Kenton’s record for the season was not available as of press time.
Caylee Wurster led the Lakers in scoring with nine points. Morgan Evilsizor had seven points and one of Indian Lake’s two three pointers – Kelson Stidam hit the other – and Katelyn Hogan scored six points for head coach Nick Tucci. Mollie Swygart also scored a field goal for the Lakers.
