DEGRAFF – As has been a recurring theme this season, the Riverside Lady Pirates again had trouble getting out of the gate in a game against Botkins, finding themselves down 16-3 after the first quarter and eventually dropping a 48-30 decision to the Lady Trojans in a non-conference game in DeGraff Dec. 19.

Botkins came out smoking, hitting five field goals, a three-pointer, and all three of their foul shots in the opening period. The lead was never in trouble after that as Botkins outscored the hosts 26-15 over the next two periods to put the game away.

Shelby Giles hit the Pirates only trey of the game and closed with a team-high 10 points. Marissa Davis yet again reached double digits in rebounds with 13 and added six points. Aubrey Stillings has six points and four boards and Courtnie Smith chipped in with five points and five rebounds.

Riverside won the jayvee game, 30-22. Dana Jones paced the Pirates with 11 points.

Riverside has the unenviable task of traveling across Logan County to play the 8-1 Benjamin Logan Raiders in a non-league game Dec. 22, and then will not play again until after Christmas.
