Indian Lake High School’s Seniors of the Month for December are Jessica Grothaus and Michael Mallory. Here are their comments.

Michael Mallory

Parents: Curt and Suzy Mallory, DeGraff

School Activities and awards: Soccer, Baseball, Key Club, Student Government, Musical, Show Choir, Vocal Jazz Ensemble, 3 Years All State Choir, NHS, 4-H, Church Ensemble, West Point Award, Outstanding Art Student of the Year, Windmill Awards Best Supporting Actor and Honor Roll

If I were principal for a day: I would have a pet day where everyone could bring in their animals.

Favorite school memory: My favorite school memory is winning the school dodgeball tournament my junior year.

People who have been an inspiration to me: My parents, siblings, and grandparents, as well as my pastor, David Buchenroth, are all inspirations to me.

Lately I’ve been reading: Lately I have been reading Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell.

My advice to parents: My advice to parents is to care for your children, but don’t hover over them.

My biggest regret: My biggest regret is not taking woodshop class.

Next year I will be: Next year I will be studying Industrial Design at the University of Cincinnati.

Jessica Grothaus

Parents: Steve Grothaus and Janet Zurovchak, Huntsville

School Activities and awards: NHS, Improv Club, Marching Band, Pep Band, Jazz Band, Symphonic Band, District Honors Band, Ohio Ambassadors of Music, OMEA Solo and Ensemble and West Central Ohio Concert Band.

If I were principal for a day: I would allow the students to spend the entire school day in any single class that they choose and I would have Chick-Fil-A cater lunch.

Favorite school memory: My favorite school memories are reading The Crucible in Mrs. Brandon’s class, performing for Improv Club and playing Wicked in Symphonic Band.

People who have been an inspiration to me: I’m inspired by my parents, Marilyn Crisler and Larry Walker.

Lately I’ve been reading: I’m reading Adagio-Tarantella by Ernesto Cavallini and Winter by Marissa Meyer.

My advice to parents: Try to go to as many of your child’s activities as you can. They might not tell you, but they are really thankful for you being there and supporting them.

My biggest regret: My biggest regret is procrastinating.

Next year: I will be attending a four-year university majoring in Mathematics and Statistics.
