Donated shoes headed to those in need

Stacy Fauley had to work around the mountain of shoes and socks dumped on her desk Dec. 14, the footwear courtesy of the Riverside Interact Club, which collected the shoes at the Riverside/Lima Temple Christian boys basketball game in DeGraff Dec. 11. The Interact Club collected the footwear in lieu of payment into the game and will give the shoes and socks to the Bellefontaine Rotary Club, which in turn will get the shoes and socks to Buckner International, a Christian ministry that will deliver them to some of the most poverty-stricken places on the planet, places where shoes are considered a luxury. The Interact Club collected over a score of pairs of shoes and hundreds of socks, many of which came courtesy of the Big Orange Shoe Shop in West Liberty.
