Calvary Christian School observed Veterans Day in a chapel Nov. 11. The day started with veterans enjoying a hot breakfast served by the High School Key Club members. Then the entire Calvary school gathered in the sanctuary to watch a video about Veterans Day, listen to patriotic songs performed by choir and band members, and offer their thanks for the service of the veterans. Veterans were asked to introduce themselves and tell their military branch and service dates. The students then had the privilege of hearing from speaker Derrick Detrick, a father of one of Calvary’s students and a Marine. He spoke about the Marine motto, Semper fidelis, and how important it was to be faithful to each other in the military. He then related this to how God is always faithful to us no matter what. The chapel ended with the playing of taps and the students making an exit tunnel to applaud the veterans as they left the sanctuary.
