Midwestern Ohio REALTORS and Affiliate members partnered with Habitat for Humanity of Logan County to spotlight the need for affordable housing.
“REALTORS® know the importance of home ownership and the freedom it provides – it strengthens communities and brings stability and a sense of home to families. This is something the Midwestern Ohio REALTORS are committed to protecting,’ said Midwestern Ohio REALTORS President Bryn Daring-Stewart. “While as a country we have made huge strides in our commitment to Fair Housing, for some homeownership remains out of reach. Fortunately, we are blessed with organizations like Habitat for Humanity of Logan County who perform the hard, necessary work to ensure all individuals and families have a decent place to live.”
The year’s build for Habitat for Humanity Logan County is located at 700 Eastern Ave., Bellefontaine. The 1298 square foot, 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom home is the 27th build in Logan County.
The most rewarding aspects of Habitat for Humanity are that the approved family works alongside with many volunteers to build the home. Each adult family member that will live in the home must complete 350 hours of sweat equity work. The family is required to have an acceptable credit score, a solid employment history of being in the same job for at least 2 years and attendance of a financial training class and a home ownership class. The mortgage on the house is based solely on the cost to build the house and most recently has been financed with a USDA loan.
“Our Habitat team and its volunteers are dedicated to being a helping hand up, not hand out – by building homes for deserving families so they can build a better life for themselves. We are excited our local REALTORS® and Affiliates are willing to roll up their sleeves to support our efforts,” said Dale Frymyer, president, Habitat for Humanity of Logan County Board of Directors and a local Realtor.
Habitat for Humanity Logan County expressed appreciation to the following REALTOR® and Affiliate members for volunteering their time to help with the project: Royer Realty, Choice Properties Real Estate, Galbreath Realty, Fathom Realty, Western Ohio Mortgage Company, U.S. Bank and Performance Mortgage. And a big thanks to Liberty National Bank for providing lunch for our crew and to loanDepot for the refreshments for the work day.
