Now is a hot time to experience cool sugar maple tapping events and festivals. There is still plenty of time left for maple sugarin’ road trips this year.

At Indian Lake it’s going to be all about maple syrup and pancakes in a couple of weeks. Now that’s a winning combination that you can never go wrong with!

Come check out the 30th annual Indian Lake Maple Syrup Festival. It’s being held at Indian Lake State Park from 8am to 2pm on both Saturday and Sunday March 16-17.

Take a free wagon ride through the sugar brush. Watch a sap extraction demonstration and learn how sugar is extracted from a tree. Then head over to the Sugar Shack for a demonstration of the process in which sap is transformed into to maple syrup.

There will also be kids’ activities, vendors, free samples, living history displays, live entertainment and shopping.

The Indian Lake State Park and Indian Lake Development Corporation (ILDC) co-host this event each year on the third weekend of March. The event is free to attend. Breakfast is $7 per adult and $3 per child for all you can eat pancakes and sausage with real maple syrup, not that fake sugary stuff with artificial ingredients you buy at the grocery store.

All proceeds benefit the ILDC Sugar Shack Renovation project and the Fox Island Playground Fund.

It’s Maple Madness all throughout the area. Check out these other great events and festivals listed by Greene County Parks & Trails.
