Indian Lake High School’s Seniors of the Month for January are Noah Hurley and Kelly Shoffner. Here are their comments.

Noah Hurley

Parents: Brianne Flesher and Joe Hurley

Address: Bellefontaine

School Activities and Awards: Soccer, SADD, Key Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, FCCLA, Play Maker of the Year Award in Soccer

If I were principal for a day: I would organize a Field Day at the end of the year.

Favorite High School Memory: My years playing high school soccer were by far the best. The numbers we put up seemed poor, but the time we had as a team is something I’ll never forget.

People who have been an inspiration to me include: My parents and my teachers, Mr. Snapp and Mr. Shively, inspire

me.

Lately I’ve been reading: The Golden Compass by Phillip Pullman

My advice to parents: My advice is simple. Everyone’s high school experience is different and today’s experience isn’t like it once was. So give your child the benefit of the doubt more often. It may seem crazy to you as a parent, but it might be what they need to do to make it through the year. With parent support, we can be successful.

My Biggest Regret: I don’t have any big regrets when it comes to my high school career.

Next Year I Will Be: I plan to do a little traveling, then return to find a job where I can expand my knowledge in retail and people. Long term, I hope to manage and own my own business.

Kelly Shoffner

If I were principal for the day: I would cater in Raising Canes and hold a kickball tournament outside.

Favorite School Memory: My favorite school memory is defeating Wapak in a tri-match during my senior season of the volleyball.

People who have been an inspiration to me: People who have inspired me include my parents, my family, and my coach, Jacque Strahley. They always push me to do my best.

Lately I’ve been reading: That Thing Around Your Next by Chimamanda Adiche

My advice to parents: My advice to parents is to always support your kids and motivate them to do their best.

My Biggest Regret: I regret not swimming all four years of high school.

Next Year I will be: Attending the University of Findlay and majoring in pre-physical therapy.
