The Rotary Club of Bellefontaine is searching for candidates to attend the 2019 District Rotary Youth Leadership Awards Camp at Camp Kern in Oregonia, Ohio. The camp will take place from April 26 at 1 p.m. through April 28 at noon. The cost of $165 will be paid by the Bellefontaine Rotary Club for up to six applicants.
Sally Stolly, Bellefontaine Rotary Club Committee Chair, said participants will be sophomores and juniors attending Logan County Schools and who have exhibited leadership potential, good citizenship, desire to attend the RYLA camp, scholarship, and have completed application forms.
The 52 Rotary Clubs in District 6670 will conduct the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards Camp. It will be staffed by carefully selected Rotary counselors. Our objective is to offer outstanding high school sophomores and juniors an opportunity to live, work and play together in an atmosphere of friendly competition which will offer a challenge to accept the responsibilities of leadership. The camp will feature outstanding speakers, and workshops, focusing on decision making, critical thinking, communicating effectively, public service, problem solving, and career development. Perhaps the greatest benefit will come from sharing this experience with up to 100 other outstanding students from all over Southwest Ohio.
Application forms are available through the high school guidance office and may be turned in to a high school guidance counselor no later than Jan. 31. A Rotary Club Committee member will collect the applications on Feb. 1. The Rotary Club Committee will then interview the nominees to select delegates and their alternates. Only 6 applicants will be accepted. Anyone interested in obtaining further information should contact their high school guidance office.
