Riverside Seniors of the Month are Sydney Burrows and Wesley Thompson. Here are their comments.

Sydney Burrows

Parents: Stacey Burrows and Carl Burrows

School activities & awards: Youth Leadership, National Honors Society, Modern Music Masters, Interact, Marching Band, Jazz Band, and Pep Band

If I were principal for a day: I would probably just cancel school. Being a principal is too much work!

Favorite school memory: Getting to march in the Marching Band for 6 years, and getting to know an amazing group of people.

People who have been an inspiration to me include: My mom, and a grocery list full of teachers.

Lately, I have been reading: Draw The Story

My advice to parents: Let your kids dream! My parents have stayed supportive, and encouraged me to chase my dreams. This allows children to develop creativity and leads them to happiness.

My biggest regret: Not talking to and getting to know more people. There’s a whole high school full of kids, and I barely know most of their names. If I could start over I would try to get to know more people.

Next year I will be: Either attending an art school, or attending Kent State for Animation, Computer Design, and Game Design

Wesley Thompson

Parents: Jason and Elizabeth Thompson

School activities & awards: National Honor Society – Treasurer, Tri-m Music Honor Society, Interact Club, Business Professionals of America (BPA), Family Career Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), All County Honor Band, Marching Band, Pep Band, and Concert Band.

If I were principal for a day: Honestly? I would just sit in my office all day.

Favorite school memory: Marching through the halls before big football games or to celebrate a big victory.

People who have been an inspiration to me include: My teachers, parents, friends, and Amber Wagner.

Lately, I have been reading: Buffering by Hannah Hart

My advice to parents: Listen to your children! You never know what advice they can offer you.

My biggest regret: Being quiet and reserved earlier in high school.

Next year I will be: Attending Ohio University to become a middle school Math/Science teacher.
