Local agencies help students make good choices

Midwest Regional ESC with the help of many volunteers is presenting the “Choices” program to 8th grade students in Logan County middle schools. Starting at Bellefontaine Middle School on Oct. 11, students will learn about making the right choices and possible consequences of other choices. Programs consist of Texting, Social Media, Diversity, Values, Self Esteem/Self-Confidence, Opiates Crisis, Stress Management, and Healthy Habits. Volunteers from the Bellefontaine Police Department, Logan County Sheriff’s Office, Consolidated Care, Board of DD, Life Reps, Mary Rutan Hospital, C.O.R.E., and others will give presentations. Jeremy Hankins of Bell Hankins Realty group donated funds for volunteer lunches at Bellefontaine MS.

On Oct. 18, the program will be presented to Indian Lake and Riverside students at Indian Lake Middle school. Lunch for the volunteers and students is provided by the Alliance for Community Partnerships prepared by La Pizzeria.

On Nov. 15, “Choices” will be held at Benjamin Logan Middle School.

All water for these programs has been donated by Easton water.

This program was piloted in 2016 and was received well by school administrations and students.
