It was a picture perfect day for the photogenic pageant contestants at the annual Indian Lake Pageant, with a large field of over 60 contestants competing this year.
A huge crowd was in attendance as the contestants took center stage at noon on Old Field Beach during the annual Beach Spectacular. A panel of local professionals served as judges.
Catherine Thomas, 17, a senior at Indian Lake High School, was crowned Miss Indian Lake 2018. “ I feel very surprised and shocked right now,” said Thomas who’s goal in life is to become a third grade teacher. Thomas, who is a member of her high-school cross-country team, actually ran and competed in the Lakeview “5k on the Lake” Road Race earlier that morning, the same day of the Pageant!
When asked how she placed in the race, she didn’t know because she practically had to sprint to the pageant after crossing the finish line at the race and didn’t get a chance to look at the race clock.
Now that’s real beauty there and some impressive multi-tasking, competing in a 5K race and winning Miss Indian Lake in just under 4 hours! Thomas also won Miss Photogenic at the Pageant. Sounds like some type of world record for a unique kind of running/pageant triathlon to me.
Also, in the Miss Indian Lake contest Nicolette Dague was the named 1st Alternate and Claudia High was 2nd Alternate and also won Best Hair.
Serrena Hill, age 12, who attends Indian Lake Jr. High, won the Jr. Miss contest. “I’m really, really, really very excited to have won today,” said Hill. Hill also won Most Photogenic. Crosley Lacher was named 1st Alternate and won Best Hair, while Maelyn DuVall was named 2nd Alternate.
Layla Stone was crowned Little Miss Indian Lake with Lillian Webb named 1st Alternate, Sylie Reeves 2nd Alternate and Aurora Steiner took Miss Photogenic. Layla Stone also won Best Hair.
Madison Stevens, a sophomore at Indian Lake and the reigning Miss Indian Lake 2017 passed the crown onto the new Miss 2018 Indian Lake Catherine Thomas. “I’m just so happy to give someone else the chance to do this, said Stevens. It was such an amazing year for me,” adds Stevens.
