LAKEVIEW — It was a hot show and it was also very hot outside at the Indian Lake auditions on Saturday, June 30 in Lakeview. The thermometer was showing over 90 degrees but that didn’t stop the talent from showing up for the outdoor auditions held at the Indian Lake Car and Craft Show.

The talent was quite impressive with county music singers to Pat Benatar look-a-likes. All where vying for a coveted spot in the Indian Lake’s Got Talent finals to be held at the Beach Spectacular on July 7.

One musician that really stood out was 18 year old guitarist, singer and songwriter, Aubree McCurdy from Hilliard, Ohio.

She has been playing guitar and singing for 14 years. She not only she plays cover songs but also plays original songs that she has created and written herself. She played one such original at the auditions Saturday and it went over well with the judges and the crowd, advancing her to the finals with her efforts.

“I’m very excited to advance to the finals and happy to gain more experience competing in auditions like this,” said McCurdy.

McCurdy won first place in a similar talent contest, at the Ox Roast Festival in West Jefferson last September. She will be competing in the Columbus, Ohio American Idol competition in the Fall.

Over 14 talented adult and 4 youth singers were shooting for just 5 remaining slots left to advance to the finals.
