The Indian Lake Area Historical Society’s June general meeting will be held at the historical post office on Orchard Island, June 25 at 7 p.m. All are welcome to see this amazing restoration project. Please bring a lawn chair and enjoy a “step back in time.”

Summer Reading Programs at the Knowlton Library from June 9 through July 25:

Mondays – Writer’s Rule (5th-8th grade) 1:30-3 p.m. – Keep your writing skills sharp all summer through creative writing, games and whimsical fun.

Miami Grange in DeGraff will host a Pancake and Sausage Breakfast on Aug. 25 in conjunction with the DeGraff Country Fair.

Ben Logan soph Alicia Jenkins wants to upgrade Richland Twp. Memorial Park, Belle Center, and, in the process, earn a Girl Scout Gold Award. She’s raising funds with BBQ Chicken Dinners as part of Belle Center’s July 4 activities. For pre-sale tickets, $8.50, call 937-464-4623. Tickets the day of the event will be $9. Pick up dinners 1:30-8 p.m. Dinners include a half chicken, applesauce, chips and a roll. Drinks will be available for purchase at pickup. Park upgrades will include a batting cage, new and updated bleachers, new benches, relining basketball court, replacing basketball nets, power washing, trash cleanup and painting jobs. The Logan County Farmers Market is open Saturdays 8:30 a.m.-noon May through September at the corner of Chillicothe and Detroit in downtown Bellefontaine. SNAP, Medicaid, WIC cardholders get extra $ for produce. Kids 5-12 get $2 in tokens for produce.

The Logan County Health District offers free HIV testing the third Monday of every month from 1:30 to 3 p.m. (starting June 18). Testing is confidential. The goal of this program is to prevent the spread of the HIV disease through education and testing.

The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary will conduct an “About Boating Safely” class from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on June 16 at the USCG Aux. Station located at 7490 Edgewater Ave., Huntsville. Pre-registration and payment are required. Contact Anita Daniel at 937-726-6572. The fee is $40 for the first student and $25 for a second student and includes lunch. Course completion satisfies the Ohio educational requirements for boaters born after January 1, 1982 who wish to operate a powerboat greater than 10 horsepower. This is a great family oriented training class. Register today and learn about boating safety from the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.

Journey Christian Cancer Support meets 6:30-8 p.m. on the second Monday of each month at Quest Community Church, 110 South St., in West Liberty. It is free and the building is handicap accessible. Long-time cancer survivors, current cancer patients and their caregivers are invited. This is a community event sponsored by the church. A table of books and resources are available to use. The July meeting will be at Lions Park in West Liberty for a potluck picnic. The theme will be Hope and Humor. “We will share a short devotional on hope and tell about humorous things that have happened to us on our cancer journeys.” Friends and family are invited.

Women who have experienced infertility or miscarriage, are undergoing fertility treatments, or are considering adoption are invited to a monthly support group that meets at Memorial Hospital. HOPE, an independent, peer-led, female-only support group provides an opportunity to share information, discuss sensitive issues, or just listen to others. Meetings are confidential, unbiased and planned to provide support and comfort. Meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month from 7 to 9 p.m. in Meeting Room E at Memorial Hospital, 500 London Ave. in Marysville (use entrance E). The Food Pantry of Wake Up the World Ministries is open the last Friday of each month from 4 to 6 p.m. to individuals and families in Logan County needing food and who qualify under the Second Harvest Food Bank criteria. The church is at the former Northeastern Elementary, 600 Brown Ave., Bellefontaine. Qualified individuals and families can secure three days of food, including veggies, meats and canned goods, by entering the church’s back entrance. Overeaters Anonymous meets at 10 a.m. each Monday at Hillcrest Baptist Church, 1505 S. Main St., in Bellefontaine. This meeting is open to anyone who wants to stop eating compulsively. The Logan County Art League holds an Open Studio 7-9 p.m. on the 2nd, 3rd and 4rh Monday of each month so people can bring in their visual arts projects to work on among like-minded artists. Try new things, gain direction, get encouragement and explore. It will be a safe place to share ideas and get inspiration. It is open to anyone in the arts, at any level, and in any media. There will be several experienced artists on hand to help, so beginners are welcome. Just bring your project and your supplies and join us. There is no cost.

Logan/Champaign Counties Survivor of Suicide (SOS) Support Group for those bereaved by suicide will meet 6:30-8 p.m. the 2nd Thursday of each month at the MHDAS Board, 123 N. Detroit St., West Liberty, with topics and events planned for each month.

The Indian Lake United Christian Services Food Pantry at the Municipal Building, 433 state Route 708, Russells Point, offers food assistance to all residents of the Indian Lake School District on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Thursdays of the month. The Food Pantry is staffed entirely by volunteers and operates solely with donated funds and food.

The Logan County Health District is offering flu shots for all ages during the regular Immunization Clinics every Thursday from 9 to 11 a.m. and the 1st Thursday of the month from 2 to 6 p.m. Most insurances are accepted.

TB testing is done 8:30 a.m.-noon and 1:30-4 p.m.on Mondays and Tuesdays. The charge is $20 cash, or check with ID. Most Ohio Medicaid plans are accepted.
