Indian Lake Elementary School recently recognized students who set an example for others in academics and behavior and said goodbye to one of the largest classes on record. Staff and parents gathered for the annual ILES Awards Assembly, saluting students who made Honor Roll, were Good Citizens and earned Perfect Attendance. First through fourth graders are eligible for the Good Citizens Award, while second through fourth are eligible for Honor Roll.

ILES Co-Principal Molly Hall specifically addressed more than 160 fourth graders moving on to the middle school, quoting A.A. Milne of “Winnie the Pooh” fame advising, “You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem and smarter than you think!”

To round out the program, a record 54 students on the honor roll continuously from second grade through fourth grade earned medals sponsored by the ILES PTO.

Hall also recognized second grade teacher Kirsten Thomas, who is leaving ILES after 22 years in education.
