The Culpepper & Merriweather circus is in town this weekend at Indian Lake. They will be setting up their “big top” tent at Old Field Beach off North state Route 235 this Saturday, May 12.
There will be two shows, one at 2 p..m. and one at 4:30 p.m.
Every year the Culpepper & Merriweather Great Combined Circus brings an action-packed 90-minute show to over 200 towns in 17 states. Around since 1985, they bring an all-star group of performers from the United States, Canada and Mexico, preforming a variety of acts featuring animals, acrobats, comedy and balancing.
Tickets are very affordable and available in advance or the day of the show. Tickets purchased online or at local ticket outlets before circus day are $10 for adults and $7 for children 2-12 and seniors 65 & up. On the day of the circus (or first day if in town more than one day) tickets are $13 for adults and $8 for children and seniors. There is no charge for children UNDER the age of 2.
Free Morning Tour
Every morning at 9:30 a.m before every performance a free tour of the circus grounds is offered to the public. It includes watching their tent raising. You’ll get to meet their animals up close and personal, learn about their routine and care and additional information about the show’s daily operations.
Starting an hour before each show, the circus offers pony rides, bouncy houses, a 22-foot slide, face painting and a concession stand. Cash is accepted directly at each attraction. The “big top” circus tent opens 20 minutes before each show and it’s first come first serve for seating. All tickets are general admission.
The circus also offers coloring contests for kids ages 7 and younger and ages 8-11. Just color the form from their website and bring it to the performance for a chance to win a circus novelty prize. Upon arrival to the circus just turn your sheet into the souvenir stand inside the Big Top.
