Indian Lake musicians score well at contest

Several Indian Lake Middle School students earned high marks at the recent Ohio Music Education Association’s District 11 Solo and Ensemble contest held at Miami East Schools.

Receiving “Superior” ratings for instrumental solos were Dylan Carter (bass clarinet), Allison Culp (piano), Sierra DeWeese (clarinet), Isabella Fauley (clarinet), Ethan Knief (xylophone), Holly Seeley (piano), Rachel Wahl (tuba), Paige Mefford (piano), Marah Reames (piano) and Regan Ross (piano).

The ILMS Clarinet Trio of Dylan Carter, Dierra DeWeese and Emma King also earned a Superior.

Earning a II or Excellent rating were Cheyenne Hill (flute), Jaelyn Hughes (clarinet) Ethan Knief (snare drum) and Trenton Stringfellow (snare drum and xylophone).

Receiving a I or Superior rating for Vocal Solo were Lindsey Bodi, Allison Culp, Garet Foreman, Tori Blanks and Beau Young.

Receiving a II or Excellent rating for Girls Ensembles was the group consisting of Grace Pequignot, Makayla Strauser, Briauna Chamberlin, Lindsey Bodi, Paige Mefford, Shania Fruchey, Megan Kimbler, Callie Notestine and Tori Blanks.

Receiving II or Excellent rating in Vocal solos were Briauna Chamberlin, Kelsi Ullom, Regan Ross and Jolee Reser. Sierra DeWeese and Makayla Strauser received a Good rating.

Instrument students are directed by Morissa Sweeney and Jason Fauley. Vocal students are directed by Joyce King.
