Village Solicitor Matthew Chamberlain told council that he is working on the new tax ordinance for the village. It needs to be in place by January 1st. He also told Council that he has been working with the Methodist Church on a petition to vacate an alley that currently runs behind the church. He continues to work on the survey for the school property which continues to have minor setbacks but they work them out as they come up.

Mr. Chamberlain told Council that he was approached by Commissioner Dustin Wickerham about building inspections in the Village of Huntsville. Matt explained to him that in 2012 the Council voted to use the county inspectors but someone dropped the ball and nothing was done. Commissioner Wickerham said they were establishing a building authority for the county and would like for Huntsville to be a part of that.

Mayor Jenkins and Solicitor Chamberlain told Deputy Mitchell that he is doing a great job and would like for the Council members to call the Sheriff’s Department and let them know what a great job he is doing.

Beggar’s night for the Village will be October 29th from 6:00 to 7:30 pm
