The Lakeview mayor called the Sept. 8 village council meeting to order and led the council in the Pledge of Allegiance. The roll call was read and everyone answered the roll except for Terry Brentlinger. Frank Dietz made a motion to excuse Terry, and Traci Snyder seconded the motion. All voted yes and the motion passed.

The minutes of the last meeting were approved as written. A motion was made by Traci Snyder to pay the bills and seconded by Jacqueline Shoffner. All voted yes and the motion passed.

The Fire Chief was present and had nothing new to report.

Village Administrator Pat Parish reported Street Supt. Dale Byrd announced his retirement effective Dec. 31.

Deputy Donnie Day was not present.

Solicitor Connor Kinsey advised that the Indian Lake School Board will meet on September 21st and at that time they will have a signed purchase Agreement with the Mayor’s signature on it to be presented to finalize the purchase of the school property. After that meeting, Connor will advise the Village when the funds need to be presented and the executed deed will then change hands. Connor also advised Council that he had received a reply from Impact’s attorney and it his advice to Council that they not pay the buy-out amount that Impact is requesting from the Village to discontinue services with Impact since the contract was not properly executed.

Jacqueline Shoffner thanked Pat for getting the deaf children signs up and also inquired who owned 290 South Main Street and asked about the Union street property that is being demolished. She knows of an interested party that would like to purchase it.

Dennis Harford inquired about when the three properties were going to be demolished. Pat said they now have the go ahead from Logan County so it will be anytime.

The Village’s insurance quotes were again discussed and a motion was made by Dennis Harford to keep the insurance with Stolly Insurance/The Ohio Plan. A second to the motion was made by Traci Snyder. All voted yes and the motion passed.

A Resolution (2015-11) Accepting the Amounts and Rates as Determined by the Budget Commission and Authorizing the Necessary Tax Levies and Certifying them to the County Auditor was read and a motion to pass the Resolution was made by Frank Dietz and seconded by Traci Snyder. All voted yes and the Resolution passed.

The Fiscal Officer reported to Council that a check had been received from the property damage claim from Ashley Gease. She also reported that most of the Ordinances have now been scanned into the computer and we soon will be starting the scanning of all the minutes. She also reported that the website is ready to go live. She reported that all phone work has been done for the switch over to TWC except for the electric storage building on North Main and it will soon be finished. She reported that the letter sent to IL Baptist Church from the Solicitor netted results as the hole has been filled. She then informed Council that Don Champ would like to purchase the lot located on North Avenue that the Village acquired due to foreclosure. Council instructed her to invite him to the next meeting and the Solicitor will explain the process we must go through to have a public auction.

The Mayor then read an invitation to the annual Chamber of Commerce dinner on October 7th, 2015. Council also decided not to participate in the United Way payroll deduction program this year.

A motion was made to adjourn by Traci Snyder and seconded by Eric Barhorst. All voted yes and the meeting adjourned.

The next meeting will be September 21, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. in Council Chambers.
