Indian Lake Local Schools will host the Osgood State Bank Spirit and Military Appreciation Night on Patriot’s Day, Friday, Sept. 11, prior to the home varsity football game. Osgood State Bank will set up a tent next to the stadium and serve free hot dogs, cookies, chips and drinks beginning at 5:30 p.m. There will be a deejay, a fire truck and face painters along with performances by the Indian Lake cheerleaders and marching band prior to the game. Indian Lake will offer freeadmission to the game for all active and retired military with ID. Representatives from Lakeview AmVets Post #39 will be on hand to celebrate by offering small American flags at the gate. Osgood State Bank will hand out “Fear the Spear” Laker Spirit towels. Aries Pharmacy, Bud’s Marine and Thompson, Dunlap and Heydinger are co-sponsors of this event.

Green Hills is celebrating its 40 years with a bake sale. West Liberty wanted to build a “senior citizen village” and what started with $2,232 at a bake sale is the Green Hills of today. To celebrate, a mega bake sale will be held 1-5 p.m. Sept. 16, with a 5:30 p.m. auction to follow. All proceeds will go to programs for the residents that enhance their physical, social, spiritual and intellectual wellness. Those who would like to bake something for the bake sale, auction or both are asked to call 937-465-5065.

West Liberty United Methodist Church offers Grief Support through a program called GriefShare, a weekly seminar and support group designed to help rebuild life after losing a loved one. The two session times offered are 10 a.m. Mondays starting Aug. 31 or 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays starting Sept. 1. There is a $5 registration fee. The group meets at the church, 202 W. An Indian Lake Alumni coed softball tournament will be held at Emil Davis Park Sept. 19-20. It’s all for fun and a chance for classmates to get together. The goal is to keep members of each graduating class on the same team. If not possible, add members from the class above or below. No limit on how many can be on a team. All members must be from Indian Lake. If interested in entering a team, email Chad Lones, ojirot@embarqmail.com. Cost is $15 a player. Proceeds go to the Indian Lake High School softball program.

The Logan County Art League holds an Open Studio 7-9 p.m. on the 2nd and 3rd Monday of each month so people can bring in their visual arts projects to work on among like-minded artists. Try new things, gain direction, get encouragement and explore. It will be a safe place to share ideas and get inspiration. It is open to anyone in the arts, at any level, and in any media. There will be several experienced artists on hand to help, so beginners are welcome. Just bring your project and your supplies and join us. There is no cost.

Logan/Champaign Counties Survivor of Suicide (SOS) Support Group for those bereaved by suicide will meet 6:30-8 p.m. the 2nd Thursday of each month at the MHDAS Board, 123 N. Detroit St., West Liberty, with topics and events planned for each month.

The Indian Lake United Christian Services Food Pantry at the Municipal Building, 433 state Route 708, Russells Point, offers food assistance to all residents of the Indian Lake School District on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Thursdays of the month. The Food Pantry is staffed entirely by volunteers and operates solely with donated funds and food.
