A Logan County native recently rode his way onto the podium during a Special Olympics event.
Matt Wildermuth of Bellefontaine earned a bronze medal at the Special Olympics Ohio State Equestrian Competition held Sunday, Aug. 16, at the Winton Woods Riding Center near Cincinnati. Wildermuth scored third place in the barrel-racing category with his horse “Rocky.” Nearly 180 athletes from across Ohio participated in categories ranging from showmanship to trail riding. Wildermuth represented the team from Logan County Board of DD.
The 31-year old has worked with horses from childhood and practices skills weekly with Discovery Riders in Zanesfield. Wildermuth is the son of Bonnie and Dennis Versele of Bellefontaine and Dan Wildermuth of Bellefontaine.
