The Ohio Hi-Point Career Center Board of Education and Construction Committee gathered June 21 for a special Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) meeting to interview and evaluate three construction firms for a potential career center improvement project. Elford Incorporated of Columbus, Thomas and Marker of Bellefontaine, and Shook-Touchstone of Lima, the top three qualified firms were given 40 minutes to explain their detailed construction management processes, experience and capabilities to complete the particular project.
The CMAR provides the professional project services and is a consultant throughout the construction phases. While providing some of the construction, the CMAR is primarily responsible for managing construction costs, design developments, and ensuring the plans and specifications are fulfilled. Each interview was followed by a 20-minute question and answer segment.
The board discussed the competencies of each firm and their evaluation details as well as local opinion research initiatives that will be used to measure the public interest in the construction project.
