Indian Lake/Ohio Hi-Point FFA Chapter students celebrated a successful year during its annual banquet April 19. The Indian Lake High School main gym was full of supportive parents and members of the local agriculture community. Officers performed the pageantry of their annual meeting, then heard from Ohio FFA Vice President At-Large Kameron Rinehart.
Rinehart spoke about what he learned on a recent journey to South Africa with other FFA state officers. “We were inspired by a young farmer over there who went from having nothing to being one of the top agriculturalists in South Africa. So, I really want you to know that you should never give up on your dreams. No matter what happens in life, if you follow your dreams and passions, you will prosper,” he said.
Agriculture Education teacher Shelby Faulkner recounted the many contest and exam successes students have achieved over this past year. Then she presented several special awards including Outstanding Scholars (Bethany Golliday, Britny Pond, Kevin McLane and Elizabeth Treen), Star Members (Megan Keckler, Jackson Grimes, Skylr Timbrook and Noah Bailey) and Spirit of FFA (Danae Brown, Logan Coyer, Melanie Watkins, and Izaiah Bias). Senior Scholarship winners are Nickolas Crockett and Elizabeth Treen.
Up next, several students will head to the Ohio State FFA Conference in early May.
