The Indian Lake High School Junior Class will host a Quarter Mania Fundraiser for Prom on Tuesday, Nov. 29, from 5 to 8 p.m. in the ILHS Auxiliary Gym. Many types of vendors will be set up to help with Christmas lists. Admission is $10. Bring quarters and a friend! Concessions available.

The Indian Lake Chamber of Commerce and Lakeview Business Group are looking for entries for the 2016 Christmas parade, which will be held in downtown Lakeview on Saturday, Dec. 3, at 10 a.m. This year’s theme is “A Very Minion Christmas.” Anyone wanting to be in the parade is asked to call the chamber at 937-843-5392 and be at the Stokes Township Building on South Oak Street in Lakeview no later than 9:45 a.m.

Lakeview Downtown will celebrate Christmas with carriage rides, scavenger hunts, door prizes and more until 1 p.m. on Dec. 3.

The Indian Lake Area Historical Society is celebrating the lighting of the Christmas Tree on the bridge at the Russells Point Harbor at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 4 at 5:30 p.m. The Indian Lake high school and middle school choir ensemble will sing Christmas Carols during the ceremony.

A new Logan County Writers Group charter meeting will be held at the Knowlton Library at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30 for anyone interested in participating in an Adult Writers Group. Indian Lake Schools Music Department will host the 2nd annual community Messiah at 4 p.m Dec. 18. The combined choirs of Indian Lake, Benjamin Logan and Bellefontaine schools will perform selections from the Christmas portion of Handel’s oratorio, under the direction of Dr. James Tipps of Wright State University and accompanied by David Weimer of Urbana. Each participant is to provide a copy of the work and attend at least the two massed rehearsals. “And the Glory of the Lord,” “For unto us a Child Is Born,” “O Thou That Tellest Good Tidings,” “Glory to God” and the Hallelujah Chorus will be prepared as last year, with an attempt to add “His Yoke is Easy.” The community is encouraged to attend preparation rehearsal (the piece listed will be the primary goal of the rehearsal, although work may be done on other choruses). Community volunteers may prepare by attending any of the following rehearsals. All rehearsals will be held in the high school choir room. Schedule: 6:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15 – For unto Us a Child is Born; 6:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17 – Glory to God; 6:30-7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 21 – Hallelujah; 6:30-7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28 – His Yoke Is Easy; 6:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1 – All choruses; 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, Dec. 10 – All choruses; 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, Dec. 17 – All choruses. Volunteers may also attend rehearsals during the school day from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m. at the high school on Dec. 14-16 only. These rehearsals require advance notice for security reasons. Contact Joyce King in advance. Massed Choir rehearsals with the conductor and accompanist will be held 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 10, and Saturday, Dec. 17, in the high school auditorium. The choir will meet at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18, for a warm-up and organization period and the concert will begin at 4 p.m. Admission to this event is $5 for adults and $2 for students and seniors. Doors will open at 3:15 p.m.

Community Action Organization, in partnership with the IRS, will offer volunteer tax preparation services in Logan County at multiple locations. Volunteers will be taught to prepare tax returns for low- to moderate-income families in their communities. The IRS sponsors the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance and Tax Counseling for the Elderly programs. Volunteers for those programs prepared 3.7 million tax returns this past filing season. Volunteers work a few hours a week, usually from mid-January through the end of the tax filing season in April. No prior experience is required. Women who have experienced infertility or miscarriage, are undergoing fertility treatments, or are considering adoption are invited to a monthly support group that meets at Memorial Hospital. HOPE, an independent, peer-led, female-only support group provides an opportunity to share information, discuss sensitive issues, or just listen to others. Meetings are confidential, unbiased and planned to provide support and comfort. Meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month from 7 to 9 p.m. in Meeting Room E at Memorial Hospital, 500 London Ave. in Marysville (use entrance E). The Food Pantry of Wake Up the World Ministries is open the last Friday of each month from 4 to 8 p.m. to individuals and families in Logan County needing food and who qualify under the Second Harvest Food Bank criteria.The church is in downtown Bellefontaine on the corner of East Columbus Avenue and Madriver Street, across Columbus Avenue from the Huntington Bank. Qualified individuals and families can secure three days of food, including fresh veggies, meats and canned goods, by entering the church’s side entrance on Madriver Street. Overeaters Anonymous meets at 10 a.m. each Monday at Hillcrest Baptist Church, 1505 S. Main St., in Bellefontaine. This meeting is open to anyone who wants to stop eating compulsively. West Liberty United Methodist Church is offering Grief Support through a program called GriefShare, a weekly seminar and support group designed to help people rebuild their lives after losing a loved one, offering help, encouragement and hope. Two session times are offered: Mondays at 10 a.m. starting Aug. 29, or Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. starting Aug. 30. There is a $5 registration fee. This support group will meet at the church, 202 W. The Logan County Art League holds an Open Studio 7-9 p.m. on the 2nd and 3rd Monday of each month so people can bring in their visual arts projects to work on among like-minded artists. Try new things, gain direction, get encouragement and explore. It will be a safe place to share ideas and get inspiration. It is open to anyone in the arts, at any level, and in any media. There will be several experienced artists on hand to help, so beginners are welcome. Just bring your project and your supplies and join us. There is no cost.

Logan/Champaign Counties Survivor of Suicide (SOS) Support Group for those bereaved by suicide will meet 6:30-8 p.m. the 2nd Thursday of each month at the MHDAS Board, 123 N. Detroit St., West Liberty, with topics and events planned for each month.

The Indian Lake United Christian Services Food Pantry at the Municipal Building, 433 state Route 708, Russells Point, offers food assistance to all residents of the Indian Lake School District on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Thursdays of the month. The Food Pantry is staffed entirely by volunteers and operates solely with donated funds and food.
