West Liberty-Salem Local Schools approved a new treasurer Tuesday.
The school board approved hiring Chelsea Baldwin, effective July 1, 2017, to July 31, 2020. Her salary will be $75,941.60 per year and prorated for the first month of employment.
Baldwin is now the assistant treasurer, current Treasurer Steve Godwin said. She has been at the district for more than two years, he said.
Godwin is retiring, and his last day will be June 30, 2017. Godwin said in his retirement announcement that changes to the state’s School Employees Retirement System encouraged him to retire sooner than he wanted. He said he wanted to stay until the completion of the current school building project.
