The community is invited to a Halloween Party at the Miami Grange in DeGraff on Thursday, Oct. 27, immediately following Trick or Treat. There will be costume contests, games, prizes, refreshments and the return of the Haunted Basement.

Miami Grange in DeGraff will host a pancake-sausage breakfast from 7:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19. The cost is $6 for adults and $2.50 for children. This will be the final pancake breakfast for 2016.

The Logan County Art League welcomes people to do their Christmas shopping at the 2016 Winter Art Faire in the Bellefontaine High School cafeteria 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Nov. 5 and noon-4 p.m. Nov. 6.

Indian Lake Middle School is hosting a Shop to Support for long-time teacher Jean Newmeyer on Thursday, Nov. 3, from 3 to 4:30 pm. The ILMS Media Center will be filled with items from local vendors. Raffle items will be available sponsored by ILMS clubs, local businesses, local artists and more. All proceeds will go to Jean Newmeyer to help with out-of-pocket expenses due to cancer treatments. Newmeyer was diagnosed with an aggressive form of sarcoma late this summer.

All past and present military personnel, auxiliary members, Reservists, Gold Star Mothers, and their spouses or guests are invited to attend the 6th annual FCCLA Freedom Breakfast at Indian Lake High School. This event is hosted by the Indian Lake Family, Career and Community Leaders of America Chapter and includes a hearty breakfast with a musical salute to the country’s heroes. The Indian Lake FFA Chapter members will host their Annual Hog Roast on Friday, October 28th. The event will run from 3:30 to 7 pm at the FFA shop prior to the varsity home football game verses Ben Logan. The meal includes a locally raised pork loin sandwich, baked beans, cole slaw, a drink and a cookie. Dine in or carryout. Pre-sale tickets are on sale now until the 14th for $6. Community Action Organization, in partnership with the IRS, will offer volunteer tax preparation services in Logan County at multiple locations. Volunteers will be taught to prepare tax returns for low- to moderate-income families in their communities. The IRS sponsors the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance and Tax Counseling for the Elderly programs. Volunteers for those programs prepared 3.7 million tax returns this past filing season. Volunteers work a few hours a week, usually from mid-January through the end of the tax filing season in April. No prior experience is required. Women who have experienced infertility or miscarriage, are undergoing fertility treatments, or are considering adoption are invited to a monthly support group that meets at Memorial Hospital. HOPE, an independent, peer-led, female-only support group provides an opportunity to share information, discuss sensitive issues, or just listen to others. Meetings are confidential, unbiased and planned to provide support and comfort. Meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month from 7 to 9 p.m. in Meeting Room E at Memorial Hospital, 500 London Ave. in Marysville (use entrance E). The Food Pantry of Wake Up the World Ministries is open the last Friday of each month from 4 to 8 p.m. to individuals and families in Logan County needing food and who qualify under the Second Harvest Food Bank criteria.The church is in downtown Bellefontaine on the corner of East Columbus Avenue and Madriver Street, across Columbus Avenue from the Huntington Bank. Qualified individuals and families can secure three days of food, including fresh veggies, meats and canned goods, by entering the church’s side entrance on Madriver Street. U.S. 68 between S.R. 508 and S.R. 507, daily lane closures through Oct. 30 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. One lane will remain open for travel in each direction through the use of flaggers.

Overeaters Anonymous meets at 10 a.m. each Monday at Hillcrest Baptist Church, 1505 S. Main St., in Bellefontaine. This meeting is open to anyone who wants to stop eating compulsively. West Liberty United Methodist Church is offering Grief Support through a program called GriefShare, a weekly seminar and support group designed to help people rebuild their lives after losing a loved one, offering help, encouragement and hope. Two session times are offered: Mondays at 10 a.m. starting Aug. 29, or Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. starting Aug. 30. There is a $5 registration fee. This support group will meet at the church, 202 W. The Logan County Art League holds an Open Studio 7-9 p.m. on the 2nd and 3rd Monday of each month so people can bring in their visual arts projects to work on among like-minded artists. Try new things, gain direction, get encouragement and explore. It will be a safe place to share ideas and get inspiration. It is open to anyone in the arts, at any level, and in any media. There will be several experienced artists on hand to help, so beginners are welcome. Just bring your project and your supplies and join us. There is no cost.

The Indian Lake United Christian Services Food Pantry at the Municipal Building, 433 state Route 708, Russells Point, offers food assistance to all residents of the Indian Lake School District on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Thursdays of the month. The Food Pantry is staffed entirely by volunteers and operates solely with donated funds and food.
