Local blood donors help save lives.

Quest Community Church held the second “Iron Man” blood drive in honor of Scott Boyd on Oct. 13 in conjunction with the American Red Cross. According to Jackie Taynor, Red Cross representative, 54 people made appointments, and walk-ins were welcomed to donate as well. Food and drinks were provided after the blood donations were completed.

A Miami Valley Hospital CareFlight helicopter was flown in to meet Scott and Cindee Boyd. One of the flight nurses, Erin Rodgers, was part of the crew the day of Boyd’s accident last August. The other Flight RN and Paramedic, Chane Chalovy who helped was not present.

The other members on the CareFlight crew who attended the blood drive were pilot Spencer Hardin and flight RNs Tanya Fowler, Angie Rean and Mandy Via. Also present were several West Liberty first responders, Conrad Hostetler, Eric Yoder, Chris Jones and Dick Barrett.
