The HarborFest Committee is looking for participants in the Wacky HarborFest Parade. This year’s theme is “The Wacky World of Indian Lake.” The Indian Lake Area Chamber of Commerce invites Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, 4H groups, Businesses and organizations to participant. The Parade will be on August 1, 2015 at 10 a.m. We ask that you call the Chamber to let us know that you plan to be in the parade at 937-843-5392. The parade will begin at Paradise Island and continue to the 4 way stop in Russells Point. There will be an MC at the Harbor. Awards will be given for Best of Show and Mayors Choice. Whether you dress up a golf cart or make a float, come have fun with us during the Wacky World of Indian Lake. If you have a car or vehicle that will at the Cruise in at 10:30 a.m. we ask that you also put you vehicle in the parade. Let’s make this parade the biggest parade Indian Lake has seen in a very long time. Please register with the chamber by July 29th.

Do you have an old car, truck or tractor you would like to show off? Cruise right on in to Russells Point on Aug. 1 during the HarborFest Cruise in. Put you show vehicle in the parade at 10 a.m. and then go around the block and park during the Cruise In that will start at 10:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. Awards will be given at 3 p.m. Other activities will be going on that day. Starting at 10 a.m. the Arts and Crafts open along with the Wacky World of Indian Lake Parade, at 10 30 a.m. the cruise in begins along with registration for the Wacky Boat Races.Wacky Boat Races at noon and there will also be kayak races this year. Entertainment all day long with Jeff Newland, Thing 1 and Thing2 and the Parrott Head Party with Fishstixs. Join in all the fun at the Wacky Harbor Fest Aug. 1.

Huntsville Presbyterian Church will hold Vacation Bible School Aug. 3-7 from 9 to 11:45 a.m. The theme is “Everest: Conquering Challenges with God’s Mightly Power.” Registration will be held Aug. 3 at 9 a.m. This event is free and open to area children ages 4 through 4th grade.

On Saturday, July 18, at Russells Point Harbor, the Indian Lake Chapter of the Antique & Classic Boat Society will host the 17th annual Wooden Keels & Vintage Wheels antique & classic boat and car show.

The Indian Lake Area Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, July 27, at Galilee Lutheran Church on Lincoln Blvd. in Russsells Point. The guest speaker will be Greg Wallace on the subject of “History of Boating on Indian Lake.” Everyone is welcome.

The Indian Lake Northside Church of the Nazarene will celebrate 65 years of being “A Lighthouse of Hope and Holiness” on Aug. 8-9. On Saturday, Aug. 8, there will be a time of celebration with previous pastors, sharing of memories, food and games. Sunday, Aug. 9, will be a time for the “family” to worship together. Everyone who ever called Indian Lake Northside COTN their church is invited. Located at 13699 N. state Route 235, Lakeview, the church will host the following activities: Saturday – 10 a.m. Welcome, 11 a.m. Celebration Service, 1 p.m. Lunch, 2 p.m. Family Games; Sunday – 9 a.m. Sunday School, 10 a.m. Worship Service, 6 p.m. “Old Country Church” Song Service.

The DeGraff Country Fair is being held Aug. 27-29. Events once again will include a Bake Sale Auction. The 5th annual Bake Sale Auction will be on Saturday, Aug 29, at 3 p.m. (or after parade) at the Stage. Bring pies, cakes, cookies, jelly or any other homemade item to be auctioned. Take home ½ the money your item is auctioned for; the other half goes to the DCF for future fairs. Cash will be paid at the end of the auction. Take items to the DCF office beside Orphan Annie’s starting at noon Saturday, Aug 29.

The Turkeyfoot Benefit Crew will host the annual Golf Scramble at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22, at the Prairie View Golf Course. Cost is $50 per person, which includes cart, greens fee, dinner and prizes. Contact the golf course at 419-568-7888 to register a team. Individuals registered for the initial May date of the event must call Prairie View to re-register. Hole sponsorships are available by calling Marcia Linch at 937-760-5253. Proceeds benefit four hospice facilities in the surrounding Indian Lake counties.

Soccer sign-ups for Huntsville and Indian Lake will be at Indian Lake Elementary. Bring a copy of your child’s birth certificate. Children must be 5 by Aug. 1, 2015, to play. Payment is due at sign-ups. Huntsville won’t accept sign-ups in July, as was done in past years. Players will have the same uniforms as last year. Indian Lake Only: Last day for sign-ups will be Aug. 1.

The Logan County Art League holds an Open Studio 7-9 p.m. on the 2nd and 3rd Monday of each month so people can bring in their visual arts projects to work on among like-minded artists. Try new things, gain direction, get encouragement and explore. It will be a safe place to share ideas and get inspiration. It is open to anyone in the arts, at any level, and in any media. There will be several experienced artists on hand to help, so beginners are welcome. Just bring your project and your supplies and join us. There is no cost.

Logan/Champaign Counties Survivor of Suicide (SOS) Support Group for those bereaved by suicide will meet 6:30-8 p.m. the 2nd Thursday of each month at the MHDAS Board, 123 N. Detroit St., West Liberty, with topics and events planned for each month.

The Indian Lake United Christian Services Food Pantry at the Municipal Building, 433 state Route 708, Russells Point, offers food assistance to all residents of the Indian Lake School District on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Thursdays of the month. The Food Pantry is staffed entirely by volunteers and operates solely with donated funds and food.
