Ohio Hi-Point board renews treasurer contract

BELLEFONTAINE – Ohio Hi-Point Career Center’s board approved a new five-year contract for its treasurer at its Sept. 28 meeting.

The contract for Treasurer Eric Adelsberger is effective Aug. 1, 2017, to July 31, 2022. His current base salary of $101,000 will increase by $5,800 each year beginning Aug. 1, 2017, for the life of the contract. That puts his salary at $106,800 beginning Aug. 1, 2017.

The board also approved hiring educational aide David Wagner of Richwood on an as-needed basis effective Sept. 29, 2016, and approved a wellness incentive program providing a $350 stipend to all full-time and regular part-time staff members who earn 35 points per calendar year in approved activities. Substitutes and leased personnel are not eligible for the incentive.

The board recognized September Students of the Month: Urbana High School student Natalie Thomas in Allied Health and Nursing II, and Riverside High School student Phillip Corwin in Electronics II.

In other action, the board:

•Approved annual appropriations in the amount of $18,372,050.96 for the period of July 1, 2016 to June 30, 2017.

•Approved disposing of miscellaneous books and supplemental materials that have no resale or educational value to member school districts.

•Approved the sale of Marketing Essentials textbooks (14) and two workbooks to Follet for $277 and authorize the treasurer to deposit the proceeds into the Principal funds.

•Approved the standard phone stipend for approved staff members in the amount of $50 for each staff member.

•Approved moving staff members to the next level on the salary schedule based on official transcripts noting completion of additional coursework.

•Approved the fiscal year 2017 satellite student charges.

•Approved the donation of 2.5 tons of scrap steel for use in the Bellefontaine Welding Lab from Crown Equipment of Celina, an estimated value of $500.

•Approved out of state study trips.

•Approved out of state professional development.

•Approved the sale of cosmetology hydraulic chairs in good condition for $25 each, and hydraulic chairs in poor condition for $10 each, to cosmetology students.

•Approved a resolution authorizing official duty travel expenses for Ohio School Boards Association duties for Warren Stevens.
