INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Retail Confectioners International (RCI) announced that Marie’s Candies in West Liberty is a winner of the 2016 Candy Clinic, which took place at RCI’s Annual Convention and Industry Expo in Indianapolis, Indiana, on June 21.
More than 400 confectioners and industry suppliers attend the convention week, which includes the Industry Expo, confectionery educational sessions, Candy Clinic and tours of local candy stores. RCI members share new product innovations as well as retail and merchandising ideas with fellow candy manufacturers and supplier members. Top honors are awarded to the confectioners with the best ideas in a variety of categories.
Marie’s Candies won the Candy Clinic President’s Choice Award for two entries. The first idea, shared by Rebecca Craig, president of Marie’s Candies, was a summer car theme inspired by the Ferrari Club of America’s visit to Logan County. The second idea was the store’s root beer float theme entered into the miscellaneous holiday category.
“Each year RCI members look forward to Candy Clinic for new ideas,” said Angie Burlison, RCI executive director. “Innovation, creative thinking and marketing are hallmarks of successful confectionery businesses across the country and we enjoy being an avenue for idea sharing.”
