July 2016 Upcoming Events

Tuesdays, July 5 & 12 @ 6PM and Thursdays, July 7 & 14 @ 9AM – Japanese for Kids – Does your child need something to do during the summer vacation? Send them to Japanese class! They’ll be taught elements of Japanese language and culture for 30 minutes. This is for 1st – 3rd graders. Contact The Grove for more information.

Wednesday, July 6, 10AM-12PM – Sewing Backpacks for Operation Christmas Child – Stop by for a short time or stay the 2 hours. Many different jobs are available. Washed fabric donations are needed. More sessions at different times and days of the week will be announced over the summer, watch our website.

Saturday, July 9, 7 – 9PM – Adult Game Night – Do you like to play games and enjoy spending time with other adults? This is your event! Come out for some fun and laughs and feel free to bring a game that you love to play!

Fridays, July 1, 8, 15, 22 & 29 – Itty Bitty Artists @ 10:00AM – Itty Bitty Artists is a weekly play based group for 1-4 year olds held on Fridays from 10:00-10:45 A.M. It is designed to provide your little ones with a fun and safe learning environment. Every week we will have a different theme related play time. See website for donation needs.

Mondays & Wednesdays, July 11 – August 3 – “Let’s Do It” Fitness Class @ 5:30-6:30AM – This class is a mix of cardio and weights (provided). The cost is $5.00 per session. Questions: Please call 844-9090 or email cboyd36@woh.rr.com

Wednesdays, July 13, 20 & 27 – Tai Chi @ 3:00 PM – Tai chi is a Chinese exercise system that uses slow, smooth body movements to achieve a state of relaxation while also strengthening the cardiovascular and immune systems. It is an excellent form of exercise for seniors, to help with strength and balance, stress relief and is both an aerobic and weight bearing exercise.

Tuesdays, July 7, 14, 21, & 28 – Taize @ 7PM Join us for as simple, meditative worship service with singing and prayer.

Thursdays, July 9, 16, 23 & 30 @ 6PM – Community Bible Study – Community Adult Bible Study going through the Gospel of John. This will be an interactive, discussion-based study for people of all levels and understanding of Scripture. Men and women welcomed!

Friday, July 8 @ 6-8PM – Introduction to Essential Oils

Saturday, July 23 @ 10AM – 12PM – Introduction to Essential Oils

Saturday, July 23 – Lego Club @ 10AM – Come join us for a morning of creativity and fun, where your child will have the chance to use his or her imagination, develop skills and learn, while building Lego projects alongside peers. Materials are provided. Please pre-register by phone or online.

Saturday, July 23 @ 6PM – Old Guitars and Scars: An Experience in Music, Photography and Spoken Word – Reed Jones has photographed six vintage guitars that have taught him not only about music, but about life, about himself, about God, and about faith. Come see the prints and see the guitars, through his eyes. He has prepared remarks about how these seemingly inanimate objects can teach us all lessons to help us come to terms with ourselves and God. He has prepared a concert using these guitars, showcasing their unique voices that are the products of years of experience, bearing the scars of that sometimes painful and glorious past. Friday, July 29 – Food Truck @ late afternoon- evening and Airtight @ 5- 7PM – Lookout, the Grove is showing up at West Liberty Street Market in July! Airtight will be playing eclectic Jazz (includes Jazz Standards, Blues, Latin, and Funky Groove influenced sounds) music at 6 PM. And Big Willies BBQ will be setting up again to sell some amazing BBQ Pork, Brisket, and Wings, among other things. Come on out for an evening of good music, good food, and good community fun!
