The May 24 Huntsville Village Council meeting was called to order by Council President Deb Anderson, as Mayor Jenkins was absent. The following members answering roll call: Robin Jenkins, Margaret Frazier, Jean Cotterman and Joe Hurley. The minutes of the last meeting were approved as read. Robin Jenkins made a motion to pay bills, and Margaret Frazier seconded the motion, all concurred on roll call. Brenda Jenkins was excused from the meeting for vacation.
Visitors for the evening were James Beaver and Renae Beaver and Deputy Doug Mitchell.
Street Superintendent Tim Jenkins told council that the annual village clean-up went well. They were very busy and used 8 of the large dumpster to remove everything. There were some tires that were dropped off, these can not be taken to the landfill, but Jamie Beaver has offered to dispose of them for the Village.
The village has received several complaints of properties not being mowed. The clerk will mail letters to those in violation of village ordinance requiring property owners to maintain their properties in June.
Community Garage Sales will be June 11th and 12th, 2016. At this time the village waives the $5.00 permit fee.
Deputy Sheriff Doug Mitchell informed the council that the grant for the extra deputy in our area has expired but the Logan County Sheriff Dept. will continue it through the summer.
Joe Hurley suggested that we look into the cost of security cameras for the outside of the Village Building and Fire Department. He will investigate the cost and availability.
Fire Chief, Tim Jenkins informed council that the Fire Department received a grant for $10, 000 for PPE for the Firefighters.
Robin Jenkins adjourned the meeting.
