The Indian Lake Area Chamber of Commerce will again conduct pageants on the beach during the annual 4th of July celebration, which this year is set for Saturday, July 2, at Old Field Beach.
The pageants will begin at 11 a.m. with the Beach Baby and Beach Toddler contest. This contest is for 0 to 18 months and 19 months to 2. The contest is designed to be a cute contest with children wearing cute swim suit or beach attire. They may bring a prop with them on stage. Anything that will make them smile or laugh. One parent will escort the child on stage while someone else familiar with the child may be in front of the stage. A $20.00 entry fee must accompany the application. They can have a sponsor. The child will be judged on most photogenic, smile, dress and over all appearance. A picture is required with application.
For ages 3-5 the chamber has Mr. or Miss Firecracker. This contest is a patriotic costume contest. This is judged on the way they present themselves and their costume. It is a fun contest. Pictures are required with application. Application fee is $25.00 and you can have a sponsor for this event.
Little Miss Indian Lake applications are for ages 6 to 9. Jr. Miss Indian Lake ages 10 to 13 and Miss Indian Lake ages 14 to 18. They are required to have dress up/formal wear plus a patriotic outfit. A picture must accompany their application because they will be judged as Miss photogenic also. The chamber would like to see more older girls get involved and show their pride of Indian Lake. Being Miss Indian Lake would look good on any college application or work resume.
Little Miss, Jr. Miss and Miss Indian Lake will be in the Christmas Parade in Lakeview and can be in any parade in which they would like to promote Indian Lake.
Application deadline is June 17th. You may drop them off at the Indian Lake Chamber of Commerce, Choice Properties Real Estate, or the Aries Pharmacy. Application can be found at www.indianlakechamber.org.
