Indian Lake seniors’ final lesson at school involved service and hard work. Seniors spent most of May 19 doing volunteer work around school grounds and nearby. Several staff members coordinated the projects. Guidance Secretary Barb Keykens says, “We want them to leave us knowing that it’s easy to give back to your community.”

Students split into groups collecting trash around the buildings and ball fields. Teams spread mulch in the flowerbeds and trimmed bushes in the courtyard to prepare for commencement ceremonies on Sunday. Some also painted and did odd jobs.

Other groups worked off-campus. A few teams volunteered for the Village of Russells Point by repainting the backstop at Al Leppich Field. Another group spread out to clean the grounds along the Indian Lake bike path in advance of the Indian Lake Cancer Walk and 5K Fun Run for Hope, Strength and Courage.
