Indian Lake High School ceramics students made good on a cross campus promise to first graders just before the end of the school year. They delivered more than 100 customized clay monsters to the first grade students who designed them. Earlier this year, the first graders created the monsters during a study of geometric, abstract/organic and real shapes. ILES Art Teacher Terry Nelson required each monster had to include all three types of shapes. Then ILHS ceramics students set to work moving those designs off the page. Each monster was sculpted and painted to look just like the ones that first graders drew.

ILHS Art Teacher Erin Miller says it took awhile to get all the monsters done, but the look on the first graders’ faces was worth it!
