Village mayor declares state of emergency

Russells Point Mayor Robin Reames declared a state of emergency in the village June 19 due to flooding and the prediction of more rain. People are warned to avoid flood waters because of unsanitary conditions. Drivers are warned that they may be cited if they choose to travel closed roads, which may place themselves and emergency responders in danger.

Red Cross cleanup kits for those with flooded homes will be available at the municipal building, 433 state Route 708, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through June 26.

When seeking a contractor to deal with cleanup, remember they must be registered with the village. For a list of registered contractors, call the municipal building at 937-843-2245.
