Indian Lake High School’s upperclassmen spent “A Night in London” the weekend of Feb. 20-21 during the annual prom. The prom was organized by the junior class and after prom with the theme Movie Night was hosted by the junior class parents.
The total profit from prom and after prom for 2015 was $4,045. This money is put aside for the junior class’s graduation. The total attendance of prom was 205 with the attendance of after prom being 172. This was an average turnout compared to previous years.
This year Alexis Beck was crowned prom queen, with the prom king being awarded to Cody Bowles. Alexis said, “I was super surprised but so happy about being queen. I feel blessed to have this experience.” The king and queen received a special dance together on the dance floor. Sarah Wahl, junior, said, “When I put the tiara on Alexis’ head I’m 73% sure I stabbed her scalp to get it on.”
Dona Elson, advisor of the junior class for more than 10 years, stated, “The juniors start planning at the start of the school year and begin ordering supplies in January. Because of lack of storage, most of the decorating cannot be completed until the week before prom when the gym is available.” She said her favorite part about prom is watching all the individual things come together to make a great night for everyone.
The junior class put on a great prom enjoyed by everyone; they worked hard and had a great attendance. Shortly, preparations will begin for prom next year.
