The Hilliker YMCA Board of Directors is pleased to announce that the Hilliker YMCA has entered into a Management Agreement with the YMCA of Central Ohio. The YMCA of Central Ohio includes 12 full facility branches throughout the Central Ohio area. In addition, they operate numerous childcare and Early Learning Centers and multipurpose/outdoor facilities, including YMCA Camp Willson, a resident camp located on County Road 11 here in Bellefontaine.

As part of the formal contract, the YMCA of Central Ohio is responsible for day-to-day management of the Hilliker YMCA. The contract was effective January 1, 2016 and will be in effect for one year. After that time, the Hilliker YMCA Board of Directors will determine the best path forward.

YMCA of Central Ohio president and CEO, Stephen Ives, has appointed Paul Westenheffer as executive director of the Hilliker facility. Mr. Westenheffer also serves as the executive director of the Gahanna branch of the YMCA of Central Ohio. He will have oversight of both operations simultaneously for the duration of the contract.

Paul Westenheffer is a 27 year YMCA professional, serving YMCA’s in both Pennsylvania and Central Ohio. Paul started his career as a Day Camp counselor in Northeastern Pennsylvania, before moving to Central Ohio to join the Hilltop YMCA as a program director. Paul has served as the executive director of the Hilltop, Downtown, Pickaway County and Gahanna branches, all part of the YMCA of Central Ohio. During his career, Paul has lead two successful capital campaigns and facility renovations at the Pickaway County and Hilltop branches.

When asked about his new role, Paul stated, “I am really excited and honored to be a part of the Hilliker YMCA and become an active part of this great community along the way. I look forward to building upon the strong collaborations and partnerships that already exist between the Hilliker YMCA and the community.”

After coming off a very successful year at the Hilliker YMCA, CEO Mike Mullins chose to retire on a high note after recommending the transition to the Hilliker YMCA Board of Directors. Board president Bill Boy commented, “I’m excited about this new chapter for the Hilliker YMCA. Paul brings experience and enthusiasm and I look forward to working with him.”
