Drs. Gary Contner and Chris Gamble have been writing eyeglass prescriptions together for the past 20 years and plan to continue to do so for the foreseeable future.
A native of Bellefontaine and a Bellefontaine High School grad, Contner started his practice in his hometown in 1981. Gamble, a Riverside High School alum, joined the practice in 1995, shortly after his graduation from The Ohio State University’s College of Optometry, which happened to be Contner’s alma mater.
When ownership of the practice was switched from Contner to Gamble recently, the rumor mill had Contner out the door. To paraphrase Mark Twain, the reports of Contner’s retirement were exaggerated.
“I’m not going anywhere,” Contner said. “The only real change that anyone will notice is the new name.”
The practice will now be known as North Main Eyecare, and Drs. Contner and Gamble will continue to see patients at their 1008 N. Main St. office, just as they have for the past two decades.
