Schools, community join voices to sing ‘Messiah’


The combined choirs of Indian Lake, Ben Logan and Bellefontaine High Schools and a Community Choir brought the crowd to their feet with their performance of the Christmas section of G.F. Handel’s “Messiah” on Dec. 20 in the Indian Lake High School auditorium. A new Logan County Christmas tradition was born when hundreds of singers filled the stage for the joyous concert that included the songs “And the Glory of the Lord,” “For Unto Us a Child is Born,”Glory to God” and Hallelujah!” Four soloists, Michael Kildow, Rebecca Taylor, Brice Henry and Layne Bair, were featured. Indian Lake High School Chorale Director and Music Teacher Joyce King organized the event with the help of Stacy Calton from Bellefontaine and Christy Fout from Ben Logan. Michael Suman served at the conductor, while Paula Deardurff provided accompaniment.
