Mad River Crossfit and The Logan County Board of DD Aktion Club are coming together to raise money for the Logan County Braves Special Olympics Team and collect personal hygiene items for the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky. It’s the third annual Mad River Crossfit Ugly Sweater Throwdown at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 19. The cost to participate in the workout is $7, plus one hygiene product. The audience is also encouraged to bring hygiene items. Activities and events include DIne and Dash Food Truck on site, Workout, 50/50 Drawing, Arts and Crafts for Kids, Prizes for the Ugliest Sweater, Prizes for the WOD Winners and Santa Visit.

As part of the Ohio Means Jobs 21st Century Grant, Indian Lake High School and the Midwest Regional Educational Service Center present The Parent Project. The program is designed to help parents and guardians of teens parent without arguing, manage teenage behavior problems and engage in a support system with parents who are facing similar challenges.

The Parent Project class will meet 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14 in the Indian Lake High School Media Center. There will a section for parents focusing on strategies to deal with your teen. Meeting at the same time will be a section for teens focusing on position decision making.

A light dinner and snacks will be provided. This program is free through the 21st Century Grant and other donations. Call 686-8851 for more information and to register.

The Indian Lake Board of Education will have a public work session at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 21, in the board office. Superintendent Pat O’Donnell will be making a presentation on school finance. The regular board meeting will follow at 6:30 p.m.

The second annual Indian Lake fourth, fifth and sixth grade Boys Basketball Tournament will be held March 18-20, 2016, at the Indian Lake High School, Middle School and Elementary School gymnasiums, 6210 N. state Route 235, Lewistown, OH 43333. Tournament spots are on a first-come, first-served basis. The cost is $175 per team, with three games guaranteed. Only school teams please, no all-star or AAU teams. Awards are to the first ands econd place finishers in each division. Mail checks made payable to Indian Lake Athletic Boosters to the school address above. Indian Lake Local Schools will hold several concerts over the Christmas season. These events will all be held in the Indian Lake High School auditorium:

Thursday, Dec. 17 at 7:30 p.m. – Holiday Band Concert featuring grades 6 through 12

Sunday, Dec. 20 at 4 p.m. – The Messiah featuring the combined choirs of Indian Lake, Bellefontaine and Ben Logan High School along with a community choir. Tickets for this event are $5 for adults and $2 for students/seniors.

The other events are free and open to the public. Donations to the Indian Lake Music Department will be accepted.

Flu shots are available at the Logan County Health District during regular immunization clinics. These clinics are held every Thursday morning from 9-11 a.m. In addition on the first and third Thursday of the month there are late clinics available from 2-6 p.m. Please call 937-651-6186 for further information and to register for your flu shot.

The Logan County Art League holds an Open Studio 7-9 p.m. on the 2nd and 3rd Monday of each month so people can bring in their visual arts projects to work on among like-minded artists. Try new things, gain direction, get encouragement and explore. It will be a safe place to share ideas and get inspiration. It is open to anyone in the arts, at any level, and in any media. There will be several experienced artists on hand to help, so beginners are welcome. Just bring your project and your supplies and join us. There is no cost.

Logan/Champaign Counties Survivor of Suicide (SOS) Support Group for those bereaved by suicide will meet 6:30-8 p.m. the 2nd Thursday of each month at the MHDAS Board, 123 N. Detroit St., West Liberty, with topics and events planned for each month.

The Indian Lake United Christian Services Food Pantry at the Municipal Building, 433 state Route 708, Russells Point, offers food assistance to all residents of the Indian Lake School District on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Thursdays of the month. The Food Pantry is staffed entirely by volunteers and operates solely with donated funds and food.
