Indian Lake junior Andrew Hulbert donates blood for the first time during Indian Lake High School’s SADD Chapter Blood Drive on Nov. 18. The annual ILHS Students Against Destructive Decisions Chapter Blood Drive was facilitated by the Community Blood Center. SADD Advisor Deb Metzger said the goal was to collect 65 units of blood, but ILHS students (16 or older), Indian Lake staff members and residents contributed 80 units. Blood Center officials say it’s an important time to give with the holidays approaching. Just one unit of blood can save up to three lives, and more than 37,000 pints of blood are needed every day in the United States.
