Co-Principal Molly Hall presents a Laker Zone shirt to kindergartner Diem Martin.

Indian Lake Elementary School recently awarded Laker Zone shirts to students who were “in the zone” during the first nine weeks of school. This long-time program at ILES has been successful in helping students maintain good behavior at school. Every nine weeks each teacher selects a Laker Zone winner from his or her class. Good behavior in special classes and on the bus is also rewarded.

For this assembly, a few students were selected for a special demonstration. Co-Principal Mrs. Hall asked five students to squeeze all the toothpaste out of a tube onto a paper plate. Then she asked them to put the toothpaste back in! The students couldn’t do it and they got messy. Mrs. Hall compared this to our words. She said like toothpaste, when we use our words correctly they can make our mouths better. But if we use our words carelessly, we can’t take back what we say. That can be messy and hurt someone’s feelings.

Here are the Laker Zone winners from this quarter:

Kindergarten-Nicole Lin, Myah Everhart, Brayden Tussing, Diem Martin, Neva Hines, Vivian Marshall and Maddison Davis

First Grade-Sarah Mohler, Paige Fuerst, Dalton Fullerton, Peyton Fuerst, Caleb Motter, Garrett Gurka, and Sarah Bihn

Second Grade-Carson Clary, Bryce Mohler, Aidan Todd, Rylynn Matthews, Mara Bihn, Joe Cummins, Emily Sanabria and Xavier Johnson

Helps myself and others learn,
