Indian Lake High School honors students who have died

Submitted Story

To better honor loved ones lost, the Indian Lake High School Student Council is working to revamp Memorial Lane. On Oct. 20, crews planted trees down the drive leading into campus from state Route 274. This stretch of trees has stood for decades in memory of students who have passed away while attending Indian Lake Schools. Over the years, 10 of the trees have been damaged or died, so those are being replaced. Three additional trees are being planted in memory of students who have more recently passed.

Through fundraisers over the past year, the ILHS Student Council raised the $3,250 needed to replace/plant, mulch and stake a total of 13 trees. Furthermore, many of the memorial name plaques that are placed near the remaining trees are damaged or missing. A new marker containing all the names will be erected in the near future replacing those plaques.

Students honored on Memorial Lane are:

Juanita Osterhout, Rick Maddox, Heather Flannery, Kristi Nolan, Dan Conley, Michael Copas, Dwayne Lancaster, Gary King, Rodney Boedicker, Rodger Taylor, Drake Meyers, Nikki Shoe, Paula Fullerton, Corey Skeen, Steve Majors, Jason Rush, Garry Ricks, Glen Walter Shoffner, Jr., Stephen Mallow, Elizabeth Duran, Chad Duff, Cliff Little, Marvin McIntire, Sean Carmen, Weston Powell, Hunter Valentine, Ryan Reynolds and Robert Baker.
