New activities at the Knowlton Library include Beginning Woodcarving – carving a walking stick. Learn to carve a walking stick and have a finished project to take home. Victoria Muchiri Children’s Foundation is hosting a 5K Memorial Walk on Saturday, Oct. 3, at 9 a.m. at Lions Park in West Liberty. Pre-registration is $25 for adults and $15 for children at www.victoriaglobalministry.com. Event day registration is $30 for adults and $20 for children. Proceeds benefit the Victoria Global Ministry orphanage in Central Kenya.

The Logan County WIC has monthly breastfeeding classes at the Logan County Health District office. The classes are open to the public; you do not need to be on WIC to participate. The class is designed for anyone thinking about breastfeeding to help determine the right choice for themselves and their baby. For more information call the health district at 937-651-6191.

West Liberty United Methodist Church offers Grief Support through a program called GriefShare, a weekly seminar and support group designed to help rebuild life after losing a loved one. The two session times offered are 10 a.m. Mondays starting Aug. 31 or 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays starting Sept. 1. There is a $5 registration fee. The group meets at the church, 202 W. The church will hold its annual Fall Bazaar and Bake Shop 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10, at the church, 202 W. Newell St. A homemade lunch menu will be served at the bazaar, and items for take-out will be available. All proceeds will be donated to Hi-Point Women’s Center in Bellefontaine and Sycamore House in Urbana.

The Logan County Art League holds an Open Studio 7-9 p.m. on the 2nd and 3rd Monday of each month so people can bring in their visual arts projects to work on among like-minded artists. Try new things, gain direction, get encouragement and explore. It will be a safe place to share ideas and get inspiration. It is open to anyone in the arts, at any level, and in any media. There will be several experienced artists on hand to help, so beginners are welcome. Just bring your project and your supplies and join us. There is no cost.

Logan/Champaign Counties Survivor of Suicide (SOS) Support Group for those bereaved by suicide will meet 6:30-8 p.m. the 2nd Thursday of each month at the MHDAS Board, 123 N. Detroit St., West Liberty, with topics and events planned for each month.
