The general meeting of the Indian Lake Area Historical Society will be one week earlier this month on May 21, at 7 p.m. at Galilee Lutheran Church. The speaker is Dick Cowan, who will discuss “Issac Zane and the Early Settlers of Logan County.” All are invited.

The Turkeyfoot Benefit Crew will be hosting the 19th annual Parade and Auction on Saturday, June 16, beginning at 11 a.m. on Turkeyfoot. Again this year, the Shriners will participate in the parade and cash prizes will be awarded to the top 3 decorated entries. The parade is open to any group, business or organization and any motorized vehicle is allowed. Pre-registration is not necessary. To participate, simply be in place at the start of the parade route at Logan’s Landing no later than 10:30. Immediately following the parade, more than 100 items will be auctioned off in the yard next to the Tilton Hilton. For more info, call 937-760-5253.

The Annual Spring Master Gardeners Plant Sale is Saturday, May 12, from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Logan County Farmers Market, located at the corner of West Chillocothe and South Detroit streets in Bellefontaine.

The annual Rushsylvania Village Wide Garage & Yard Sales, sponsored by the Rushsylvania Lions Club, will be held on Saturday, May 12, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Pick up a free map of the various sale locations at the Lions meeting room at 113 N. Sandusky St. in Rushsylvania, across from the post office. Public restrooms will be available there. The Lions will have sausage sandwiches and hot popcorn for a donation to support club service projects.

The “Top of Ohio” chapter of Mended Hearts will meet Thursday, May 10, at 6 p.m. in the conference room on the 1st floor near the cafeteria at Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine. The speaker will be Sandy Rabenstein, Registered Respiratory Therapist with Mary Rutan Hospital’s Cardiac Rehab. Her topic is “Pulmonary Disease and Pulmonary Management.” Light heart-healthy refreshments will be served. Mended Hearts is a national non-profit support organization for those of any age with heart problems and heart disease, their family members and caregivers. Journey Christian Cancer Support meets 6:30-8 p.m. on the second Monday of each month at Quest Community Church, 110 South St., in West Liberty. It is free and the building is handicap accessible. Long-time cancer survivors, current cancer patients and their caregivers are invited. This is a community event sponsored by the church. A table of books and resources are available to use. Rich and Karla Kensey, both cancer patients, along with Kelli Stoner, an oncology nurse, are the co-founders of the group and the facilitators. At the next meeting on May 14, Ilene James of the Cancer Association of Champaign County and Jane Riggs of the Logan County Cancer Society will speak.

Logan County Libraries – Ask-a-Librarian – A librarian will be available to answer computer questions a day each month through December.

Ask-a-Librarian days will be: First Thursday of each month 1:30 – 2:30 pm at West Liberty Branch; Second Thursday of each month 12:30-1:30 pm at West Mansfield Branch; Second Thursday of each month 2:15-3:15 pm at Rushsylvania Branch; Third Thursday of each month 1:30-2:30 pm at Lakeview Branch; Fourth Thursday of each month 1:30-2:30 pm at DeGraff Branch.

Perennial Swap at the Knowlton Library, Saturday, May 12. Swap will begin promptly at 11:05 am. Please have items labeled and at the parking north of the Library at 11 am. If raining the swap will be held in the AcuSport Community Room inside the Library. Perennial are not limited to flowers and participants may swap for equal numbers of items brought to the swap.

Women who have experienced infertility or miscarriage, are undergoing fertility treatments, or are considering adoption are invited to a monthly support group that meets at Memorial Hospital. HOPE, an independent, peer-led, female-only support group provides an opportunity to share information, discuss sensitive issues, or just listen to others. Meetings are confidential, unbiased and planned to provide support and comfort. Meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month from 7 to 9 p.m. in Meeting Room E at Memorial Hospital, 500 London Ave. in Marysville (use entrance E). The Food Pantry of Wake Up the World Ministries is open the last Friday of each month from 4 to 6 p.m. to individuals and families in Logan County needing food and who qualify under the Second Harvest Food Bank criteria. The church is at the former Northeastern Elementary, 600 Brown Ave., Bellefontaine. Qualified individuals and families can secure three days of food, including veggies, meats and canned goods, by entering the church’s back entrance. Overeaters Anonymous meets at 10 a.m. each Monday at Hillcrest Baptist Church, 1505 S. Main St., in Bellefontaine. This meeting is open to anyone who wants to stop eating compulsively. The Logan County Art League holds an Open Studio 7-9 p.m. on the 2nd, 3rd and 4rh Monday of each month so people can bring in their visual arts projects to work on among like-minded artists. Try new things, gain direction, get encouragement and explore. It will be a safe place to share ideas and get inspiration. It is open to anyone in the arts, at any level, and in any media. There will be several experienced artists on hand to help, so beginners are welcome. Just bring your project and your supplies and join us. There is no cost.

Logan/Champaign Counties Survivor of Suicide (SOS) Support Group for those bereaved by suicide will meet 6:30-8 p.m. the 2nd Thursday of each month at the MHDAS Board, 123 N. Detroit St., West Liberty, with topics and events planned for each month.

The Indian Lake United Christian Services Food Pantry at the Municipal Building, 433 state Route 708, Russells Point, offers food assistance to all residents of the Indian Lake School District on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Thursdays of the month. The Food Pantry is staffed entirely by volunteers and operates solely with donated funds and food.

The Logan County Health District Office, 310 S. Main St., Bellefontaine, is open 8:30 a.m.-noon and 1:30 to 4 p.m. Monday-Thursday; and 8:30 a.m. to noon Friday. For more information, call 937-651-6186.

The Logan County Health District is offering flu shots for all ages during the regular Immunization Clinics every Thursday from 9 to 11 a.m. and the 1st Thursday of the month from 2 to 6 p.m. Most insurances are accepted.

TB testing is done 8:30 a.m.-noon and 1:30-4 p.m.on Mondays and Tuesdays. The charge is $20 cash, or check with ID. Most Ohio Medicaid plans are accepted.
