United Way will welcome Think Tank, Inc. to put on a Cost of Poverty Experience on Tuesday February 20 from 8:30 to 11:00 a.m. at the Bellefontaine Airport. During the half-day workshop, participants feel what it’s like to live in the state of poverty and understand the strains it puts on all of us in Logan County.

“This promises to be a powerful experience that will open eyes and hearts to the plight of families who live in poverty,” said Dave Bezusko, United Way Executive Director.

Bezusko notes that 13 percent of Logan County families live at or below the federal poverty guidelines, which is a household income of $25,100 for a family of four. An additional 23 percent live above the poverty guidelines, but below than the basic cost of living. That means more than a third of Logan County households aren’t earning enough income to be self-sufficient.

Cost is free to attend, but space is limited and tickets are required.

Tickets may be reserved by calling United Way at 937-592-2886 or visiting www.uwlogan.org. Continuing Education Units are available for participating. Cost to receive CEU’s is $30.

United Way fights for the health, education, and financial stability of everyone in Logan County.
