Indian Lake 7th grader Regan Ross spelled beyond her grade level to win the middle school 2017 Spelling Bee. She spelled the word “sophomore” correctly to win the contest. Fifth grader Isaiah Kirby earned the runner-up spot. It took nine rounds to eliminate the 20 other students chosen from Language Arts classes to participate in the bee. Students were spelling words provided by the Scripps National Spelling Bee List. Ross and Kirby advance to the Logan County Spelling Bee on January 23rd at Riverside Schools. Paige Monroe, who took third place, will serve as the alternate.
